Welcoming Homes for Reentering Female Ex-Offenders

Mission Gate Prison Ministry provides women's guest homes to support ex-offenders reintegrating into society. As part of our transitional aftercare program for prisoners in the St. Louis, Missouri, area, we help women lead new lives at Crystal's House. Mothers are welcome at Hannah's Ranch, the next step for women who want to be reunited with their children.

Crystal's House

Named after a late missionary who worked alongside us for 20 years, Crystal's House offers a Christ-centered transitional aftercare program to help residents transition back into society. Upon arrival, residents share a room and common areas in the single family house. After a period of time, each will have the opportunity to graduate to an apartment shared with one other resident in our 4 family flat.

The home is overseen by an in-house resident supervisor, mentors and senior residents who assure essential needs are met and assist in spiritual guidance. Professional caring staff and volunteers provide initial food, clothing, personal care items, identification, job location assistance and preparation, initial transportation to Probation and Parole, and other reasonable emergency needs. We also provide referrals to community resources and local churches.

The Crystal's House Guest House Program requires intensely personal effort for at least six months. Some residents choose to stay after the end of the six-month program. Program goals and objectives are individualized according to each person's strengths, weaknesses, and needs. Our classes include the following:

House for Women
  • Parenting & Family Counseling
  • Spiritual Counseling & Mentoring
  • Educational & Vocational Training
  • Christian 12-Step Program
  • Substance Abuse Education
  • Women-Focused Bible Study
  • Budgeting & Financial Training
  • Personal Counseling

Hannah's Ranch

We provide a safe affordable Christ-centered home for women and their children in life-challenging situations, including those transitioning from a shelter, rehab, jail or any unhealthy environment or lifestyle. More than just a place to live, this is a substance-free environment with the structure, tools, and spiritual guidance women need to become sufficiently independent, loving parents. Good parenting is a teachable skill. When mothers learn healthy parenting and receive personal healing through Christ, families are changed.

This Christ-centered transitional aftercare program is for women who are sincerely ready to allow God to change their life through a whole-person approach: spiritual, physical, emotional, financial, and vocational. We provide structure and accountability with house guidelines, including regularly attending a church of their choice and tools for replacing former habits with positive lifestyle changes.
